TUESDAY'S TEACHINGS - Prayer Time

I lead a pretty busy life. From Monday to Friday, I have something scheduled. You should see my calendar there are many stickers and different colour markings to remind me what activity is scheduled and who it is for. Everyday I need to be on the move or active. If I have nothing to do, I go stir crazy and make a project for myself for the day (last week I made homemade buns). From the time I'm up to the time I go to bed, I'm doing something; reading something; or watching something.
However, there's one part of my life that I have neglected and not added to my calendar - my prayer life. I make time for friends and family, time for playgroups; times for Bible Studies and board meetings, but do I make time for my most important relationship. NO!! I always mean to. Something always seems to creep up - the phone rings; the baby cries; the older kids want a snack; the laundry needs folding; it's dinner time and I have to start cooking; etc.... If you're a mom, you know the drill. This is no excuse though.
The last two weeks I have made a conscious effort to set a time during the day and pray. Sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. There have been days where I haven't prayed (I've noticed the difference), however, like falling off a bike, I get back on and persevere.

In Mark 1:35, we see Jesus making time for prayer when everyone wanted a "piece of him." Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Jesus found the time. He MADE the time to pray. Now I'm not saying that we need to get up very early (I'm a night owl, not an early bird.) but, sometime during the day, we need to set time for our Father. Bringing him our hurts, our sorrows, our requests, our joy, our praise, our worship.

I really enjoyed reading this, Michelle.....and it is so applicable to all busy moms, too.
Which is exactly why I get up so early in the morning - I need that time alone with God!
