Caffeinated Randomness - I'm Back, But Not Really Back

Ok, I know the last time I posted I was visiting Debbie. We made it home safe in sound in time to be devestated by the World Cup Final. To lose due to a red card.........we're still not really talking about it. However, we are looking foward to Euro Cup 2012. I'm ever the optimist.
The week we were home, I spent a lot of time cleaning my house. Not because it was that messy, but I spent an entire afternoon working on my laundry/craft room. I'm 80% done. I just need to get some storage bins for my sewing projects and some organization bins for my scrapbooking/stamping supplies. I'm hoping to finish this up in August so that I can start working on some projects daily, instead of watching senseless tv (aka Days of Our Lives).
I also started my own slim fast bootcamp. I tried to follow the slim fast diet listed on the container. I also tried to work out at least 30 minutes a day. My goal was to lose at least 10 lbs. However, I only lost 6 lbs. I'll take it. By the end of the week, it wasn't so much about weight loss as it was about trying to learn to eat healthy and watch my portion size. It also encouraged me to start using the treadmill we bought last year for our anniversary. No Mom, it isn't going to collect dust anymore.
Now, I'm on my vacation. The lovely Caffeinated Chieftan is housesitting for me. I hope my house hasn't burnt down, been hit by a tornado (I've heard there have been some warnings in Saskatchewan, hopefully not near our town), or flooded out (we have had a lot of rain lately). As I have no pets or plants (I have killed petunias), she has a very easy job.
You may ask where I am, currently I'm finishing our 4 days in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. If you're every up this way, you should really check it out. To see God's creation the way He intended it is awe inspiring. We have been hiking everyday and seen wildlife, waterfalls, pristine mountain lakes and amazing views and vistas. Today we spent the evening in hot springs which was well deserved after our daily hikes. I thought my legs were ready to go on strike, though I was ready for some more.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer. Tomorrow we're off to my ocean and my grandmother's 75th Birthday Party. I will definitely post some pictures of that and the Rockies when I get home. Miss you all.
Now go and share you're randomness with the Chief!

Caffeinated Randomness - Twins and the Teal Purse

You think you really know a person, even when you talk on the phone everyday. But you don't really know a person until you spend 1 week with them for 10 hours a day. Not that I'm complaining. I love the Evil Twin and she loves me. We like the fact that we are not completely the same. We love the fact that we can argue about something and still remain friends no matter what.

Earlier this week, one of her close friends that I had not met before, but hear about all the time,) came over for lunch. After being around us for three hours, she determined that we truly are the Evil Twins. We sound a like, act a like (for the most part) and the most importantly, think a like. We may not agree on some things, but on the important ones (yes, Holland is going to win the World Cup!), we are two peas in a pod.

This week we have listened to Holland win the Semi-Final in the World Cup series (HUP HOLLAND HUP). I don't think the children have seen us jump so high, or sing so loud in a long time. We've had major discussions about why we as women don't talk about eating disorders with each other to the emerging church and the implications on our lives and our Christian communities. We've enjoyed coffee, chocolate and her amazing teal purse (which may be in my car on the way home). I could not have asked for a better week.

I'm very thankful for this week that my husband blessed me with to stay with my friend. When another friend we saw this week asked if we had done anything fun, I replied yes, hung out with Debbie.

Now go and check out some more randomness with our Caffeinated Chieftain at Under Grace Over Coffee.

Music Monday-JOY

So this Music Monday I'm spending the day with the Evil Twin. We co-decided that we wanted a happy song to celebrate our getting together after two years. We decided on Trading Our Sorrows.

Debbie wanted to use the song because her church is doing a sermon series called "Choice to Rejoice" and immediately thought of this song. I wanted to do this song because it is a feel good song and you can't help but to dance and sing along with it when you hear it (do I sound like Dick Clark now?).

For those struggling with issues, Joy is a Choice. We can choose to wallow in our circumstances or we can rejoice in what God has done and is doing for us in our trials and tribulations. Know that you are not alone. He is carrying you. Though you think you can't rejoice now, know that you can. By praising God, He will fill you with HIS JOY!

I'm trading my sorrow
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

Chorus:
And we say yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord Amen

I'm pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I'm blessed beyond the curse for his promise will endure
And his joy's gonna be my strength

Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning

Now go and share your Music Monday JOY with Shawntele at Saved by Grace.

Caffeinated Randomness: Canada Day Week Recap

I don't know about you but this week has been CRAZY!!!! I feel like I've been on the go and only gotten to sit down a few times in the evening.

Monday started off as a parent helper to my daughter's and 3 other classes for an End of the Year field trip. We hiked along the Saskatchewan River and then had a hot dog roast. We have been experiencing a lot of rain, but it was gorgeous that day. We then took them glow bowling . You know you're old when you're discussing when the Macerena came out and doing the dance. You also know you're old when you're complaining about the music being too loud. By the way, I finally found out who Justin Bieber is. Luckily, my daughter hasn't yet.

Tuesday, I was busy baking pies for a fundraiser I was involved in on Canada Day. Ok, I have to admit that I am a horrible pie baker, but somehow I persevered thanks to my Mennonite Pie Hot Line (You know who you are). It also happened to be a very hot day. Somehow, I also decided to make "gingy" cookies with my daughter and her little friend. By the end of the day we had 3 dozen gingies, 2 apple, 2 blueberry and 2 pumpkin pies, as well as a kitchen that was almost legally a sauna.

Wednesday, I did Big Cook with our Caffeinated Chieftain and another Bible Babe, which did not help in cooling my kitchen. I also prepared 4 more pies. Luckily, these were cookie bottom pies that I baked in the toaster oven. Thank you Grandma for the best gift to give someone in the Prairies. When its too hot in the summer, I bake in that. I even might move it to the garage if it gets too hot this summer. By the way the cookie pies were a Butterscotch/Pecan and a White Chocolate Chocolate. Just have to remember that when I put these pies together to make them the night before and freeze them to set (that's another story for another day).

Normally, Canada Day is pretty quiet in our little town, however, this year the moved our Sport's Day to Canada Day so it was very busy. We started with a pancake breakfast for our local fire department. Then I had to get my daughter to her float and get my pies to the hall where I was to spend the rest of the day either dishing out soup and buns or serving pie and coffee. I guess that's what happens when you're on two community boards. Luckily, my favourite Chieftain was my Gordon Ramsey, calling out the orders to me. She is so much nicer than Gordon. By the time I got home I was burned out, however, I worked on laundry as we have to pack to go on my trip to the Evil Twin's.

So I bet you're wondering what I'm up to today. Today, I have packing and cleaning planned, as well as cheering for my favourite World Cup team. HUP, HOLLAND HUP!!

Hope all of you had a great week and to my American friends I hope you enjoy you're 4th festivities as much as I did our Canada Day. Now go and share your randomness with the Chieftain today.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!

This is not our Canadian National Anthem, but it is the next best thing to it. I hope you all enjoy it as I'm enjoying spending Canada Day in our little town. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow........

I'm a 39 year old (oh yeah I'm telling you my age) Stay at Home mom. A former Bad Girl now reformed sinner, I'm married to my Y2K guy and raising 3 great children from God. Proudly Canadian, however, missing the West Coast, I currently live in the prairies watching the farmers fields produce as I learn how God produces the fruits in me.
