Caffeinated Randomness: Canada Day Week Recap

I don't know about you but this week has been CRAZY!!!! I feel like I've been on the go and only gotten to sit down a few times in the evening.

Monday started off as a parent helper to my daughter's and 3 other classes for an End of the Year field trip. We hiked along the Saskatchewan River and then had a hot dog roast. We have been experiencing a lot of rain, but it was gorgeous that day. We then took them glow bowling . You know you're old when you're discussing when the Macerena came out and doing the dance. You also know you're old when you're complaining about the music being too loud. By the way, I finally found out who Justin Bieber is. Luckily, my daughter hasn't yet.

Tuesday, I was busy baking pies for a fundraiser I was involved in on Canada Day. Ok, I have to admit that I am a horrible pie baker, but somehow I persevered thanks to my Mennonite Pie Hot Line (You know who you are). It also happened to be a very hot day. Somehow, I also decided to make "gingy" cookies with my daughter and her little friend. By the end of the day we had 3 dozen gingies, 2 apple, 2 blueberry and 2 pumpkin pies, as well as a kitchen that was almost legally a sauna.

Wednesday, I did Big Cook with our Caffeinated Chieftain and another Bible Babe, which did not help in cooling my kitchen. I also prepared 4 more pies. Luckily, these were cookie bottom pies that I baked in the toaster oven. Thank you Grandma for the best gift to give someone in the Prairies. When its too hot in the summer, I bake in that. I even might move it to the garage if it gets too hot this summer. By the way the cookie pies were a Butterscotch/Pecan and a White Chocolate Chocolate. Just have to remember that when I put these pies together to make them the night before and freeze them to set (that's another story for another day).

Normally, Canada Day is pretty quiet in our little town, however, this year the moved our Sport's Day to Canada Day so it was very busy. We started with a pancake breakfast for our local fire department. Then I had to get my daughter to her float and get my pies to the hall where I was to spend the rest of the day either dishing out soup and buns or serving pie and coffee. I guess that's what happens when you're on two community boards. Luckily, my favourite Chieftain was my Gordon Ramsey, calling out the orders to me. She is so much nicer than Gordon. By the time I got home I was burned out, however, I worked on laundry as we have to pack to go on my trip to the Evil Twin's.

So I bet you're wondering what I'm up to today. Today, I have packing and cleaning planned, as well as cheering for my favourite World Cup team. HUP, HOLLAND HUP!!

Hope all of you had a great week and to my American friends I hope you enjoy you're 4th festivities as much as I did our Canada Day. Now go and share your randomness with the Chieftain today.

You love Justin Bieber. Admit it. I saw that big poster of him in your living room. ;)

Yesterday was totally the best year we have had yet for our town, wasn't it? It was fun! Next year, you and me are going to have to do the three-legged race, okay?
