Messy Monday's - Pumpkin Spice Latte

Messy Monday's where I share what God has been showing me through the messiness of life.  It is my personal belief that this walk isn't clean and crisp and straight or narrow.  It's wide and twisted and mucky and messy.  It's about the ups and the downs, but through it all God is there with us.

Last Friday was Middleman's first day of school.  If you read Caffeinated Randomness, you read about my overwhelmed Thursday evening.  Friday morning was no different.  I got the kids ready for school.  We were in the van by 8:30 am, more than enough time to get to the school 5 minutes away.  This was not to be as everyone else was driving their kids to school at the same time and it took almost 10 minutes to get to the side of the school to drop the princess off.  We then found a parking space and ran Middleman to his Kindergarten class room and met his EA.  When we got back to the van, I felt defeated and overwhelmed.  I was crying.  I was upset.  I didn't want to leave my Middleman with people I didn't know (I actually didn't realize this until a while later).
We went home and I was stressed and upset.  My husband told me to take a day to myself.  I didn't know what to do.  My evil twin phoned and at that moment my husband told me to go visit her and not to hurry back.  I drove to her house and stopped at a Starbucks where it was revealed that our city was the city in Canada to get Pumpkin Spice Lattes one week before everyone else.  I was so excited.  I got us each one, along with a stylish mug.

I spent to the day with a friend and we had great conversations over Pumpkin Spice Latte's.  We talked about double predestination; Scottish men in the elevator; potty training; Psalm 95:11; Proverbs 31; You Version vs. Bible Gateway; and other various topics.  It was a day of rest and rejuvenation.  When I got home, I discovered that my husband had cleaned the house from top to bottom, all while watching the Tormentinator which is a feat that I battle with.

I realized that all that God had truly given me:  a loving husband; a great friend; kids who have blessed my life and Pumpkin Spice Lattes.  It was a day of learning to be content in what God has given and not my expectations of what I think I should have or be.
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. Phillipians 4:11 (ESV)

How wonderful that you were able to spend some time with your friend - and that you got some Starbucks too!

I'm very excited that Pumpkin Spice is back--definitely a fave of mine!

What a blessing to spend the day with a friend and come home to a cleaned house! You do indeed have a great husband!

First of all, I am jealous of two things: 1. That your husband cleaned your house for you, and 2. that you got to have a PSL a whole week before me!

I'm so glad that you were able to get a day to rest. I love when God gives us those! It's very much like a hug, isn't it?

Wish you were here this weekend so we could go to Starbucks - I'd even treat you. ;)

Oh what lovely gifts you were given by our Father... an understanding husband (who also cleaned your house), a friend to spend the day with, and a pumpkin spice latte! (YUM! Suddenly I'm ready for fall.) LOL

I'm thrilled you had each one of these on one of those more difficult days!
